Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) is proud to announce the nomination of Shaelene Fitchie, a first-year teacher at Glenmary School in Peace River, for the 2025 Edwin Parr Award. This prestigious award recognizes new teachers who demonstrate excellence in the Teaching Quality Standard and make a positive impact on their students and school communities.
Shaelene plays a key role in Glenmary’s French Immersion program, teaching Math, Science, French Language Arts, and Psychology. Her dedication, passion, and ability to connect with students have earned her respect from both students and colleagues.
“Shaelene’s professionalism and commitment to her students make her a standout educator,” said Glenmary School Principal Brendon Nichols. “She consistently goes above and beyond, creating an inclusive and engaging classroom environment.”
Superintendent Betty Turpin praised Shaelene’s impressive start to her teaching career. “Shaelene embodies the values of Catholic education—compassion, leadership, and a deep commitment to student success,” said Turpin.
Shaelene also contributes to the community by coaching Ringette, volunteering with the Rotaract Club, and organizing a French exchange program with a partner school in Quebec.
The Edwin Parr Teacher Award will be presented at the Zone 1 Awards Banquet in the Fall.
