The Division is in ongoing discussions and welcomes any input. There may be an Administrative Procedure upcoming. Recently, a wellness worker provided results from a Grade Nine class survey. The international teaching experience helped shape the person he is today.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">In 2019, he finished his Master of Education degree at Memorial University of Newfoundland.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">He then joined St. Andrew’s, as a junior high humanities teacher.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">VICE PRINCIPAL – Stephanie Dube</strong></b></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><img src="/images/590e42d3-4668-4242-b1ba-c415075cf99b" alt="Stephanie Dube 640x637" width="218" height="216.97631316489364"></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">I am very excited to be venturing into this new role as vice-principal here at St. Andrew’s.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">I completed my Bachelor of Arts, Music Major, in 2001, and my Bachelor of Education in 2003, both at Concordia University.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">I have spent time in the classroom in various capacities, including teaching music, grades one and two, junior high math and working in student services.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">I grew up in High Prairie, and the Lesser Slave Lake Region is my home.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">I have been blessed to have been a student at this school, a teacher in a variety of positions, and to now have my own daughter attending here. St. Andrew’s has truly been a family experience.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">My passions are music, technology and, most importantly, teaching and learning. <p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Holy Family Catholic Regional Division is taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">In cooperation with the RCMP, HFCRD recognises that the alleged incidents that led to the charges against Mr. Brock Whalen, didn’t take place during his time at HFCRD, however immediate action has been taken by the division.&nbsp;</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Mr. Whalen has been placed on offsite unassigned duties.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">On the advice of legal counsel, further action is pending.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Student support is of the utmost importance, and HFCRD offers numerous support services to students and their families.&nbsp;</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Parents/Guardians can contact their school for more information on how to access these services.</span></p>

<p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Holy Family Catholic Regional Division is letting parents, students, and teachers know that the annual Alberta Education Assurance Survey is now available.&nbsp;</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The AEA Survey is created yearly to gather feedback on the quality of education provided by HFCRD and other school authorities.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The information is used to help plan the future of education within the division and throughout the province.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Survey questions are based around topics like quality of education, student supports, school programs &amp; services, and student safety.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">“The annual information gathered from this survey assists our administration and school staff to develop school improvement goals and then monitor their effectiveness over time.” says Betty Turpin, Superintendent.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Access to the AEA Survey is available through the&nbsp;</span><a href="https://www.alberta.ca/education-planning-reporting" class="editor-link"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Education Planning and Reporting Page</span></a><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">&nbsp;on the Alberta Government Website until March 1st.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Parents or Guardians can expect to receive a package in the mail. Approximately $800,000 above the government grants supplied for the positions.As of the Fall 2023, HFCRD has installed vape detectors in all schools and has seen a decrease in activity in the schools.The division has been contacted by other school divisions and principals from across the country who are looking for information on the project.HFCRD Priorities given to Minister Williams:1. Cell Phone usage in the classroom. Dealing with cell phone addiction.2. Vaping epidemic.&nbsp; What the government can do to generate an anti-vaping campaign or legislation and what HFCRD can do to provide support?3. Recruitment of specialty teachers and wellness workers.4. Challenges include matching school calendars, insurance issues, funding allocation, and longer bus ride times.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">&nbsp;</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><b><strong class="editor-text-bold" style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Upcoming Student Engagement meeting</strong></b></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Noted that an HFCRD Committee including Superintendent Betty Turpin &amp; Board Chair Kelly Whalen will once again meet with the Student Engagement Team to discuss student priorities. New Scholarship Honouring Former Peace River Mayor

<p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">(January 4th, 2024) Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD) is pleased to announce a new scholarship for graduates of Glenmary High School.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The scholarship will be developed in honour of former Peace River Mayor Michael Procter, who served for four terms from 1986 through 1998.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">The HFCRD Board of Trustees and PRSD Board of Trustees each accepted an endowment gift from Mayor Procter’s Estate, after he passed away last August.</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">“He was a man of integrity, good will and vision”, says former HFCRD Superintendent Wayne Doll. He was a fierce advocate for Peace River and worked tirelessly to improve the lives of citizens. Mike valued education and was not shy in his support for schools. He was engaged and could be seen at school sporting events and other more public events like graduations, science fairs and concerts. Mike was proud of the graduates of Peace River and always voiced his support for student success as these graduates pursued their post secondary choices.”</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">We are grateful to be able to offer a scholarship in honour of Michael Procter, says Superintendent Betty Turpin. “He has left a legacy in this community and he will be honoured and remembered for many years to come. It truly is a blessing for our school division to be given the opportunity to provide a scholarship to graduating students of Glenmary School to enrich their education through his fund.”</span></p><p class="editor-paragraph" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;"><span style="white-space: pre-wrap;">Holy Family Catholic Regional Division and Peace River School Division will work together to create the criteria for the application and disbursement of the scholarship.</span></p>

Good Shepherd Choir Leader Receives Provincial Recognition
