St. Stephen’s School is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Elianna Eagles, who earned a bronze medal at the Canada-Wide Science Fair (CWSF), held this year in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Elianna was one of two students representing St. Stephen’s School, along with Hannah Klinck.
The CWSF is Canada’s largest annual youth STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) event, bringing together the top young innovators from across the country to showcase their cutting-edge research and projects.
Elianna’s project, titled “From Crises to Catalysts: Harnessing Algae’s Power with a Cost-Effective, Buoyant Biophotovoltaic,” explored the potential of using algae’s natural photosynthetic processes to generate low-cost, sustainable energy. Hanna’s featured a unique way to filter water, “Two Stage Water Treatment for the Removal of E. coli Using Moringa oleifera and Kaolin Clay.”
The proud moment was captured by science teacher Mrs. Kathryn Gauthier, who attended the event to support both students. “We are incredibly proud of Elianna and Hannah,” said Mrs. Gauthier. “Competing at the Canada-Wide Science Fair is already a major accomplishment — bringing home a medal is an extraordinary achievement.”
Along with the Bronze medal, Elianna was awarded a $3000 scholarship to Mount Allison University in New Brunswick and a $1000 scholarship to Western University in Ontario.
The entire St. Stephen’s School community and Holy Family Catholic Regional Division congratulates Elianna on her success, and applauds both students for representing the school with such excellence on the national stage.
