A collaborative virtual meeting was held this week with the Board of Trustees, Superintendent Betty Turpin, and student representatives from all the schools within the Holy Family Catholic Regional Division (HFCRD). The meeting, part of the HFCRD Student Engagement Team, aimed to give students a voice in shaping the future of their education and ensure their perspectives are integrated into decision-making processes.

The meeting engaged students in a productive roundtable discussion covering key topics that impact their daily lives.

Among the highlights were discussions on the ban of personal mobile devices in schools, an update on vaping, and the challenges surrounding mental health and cyberbullying

Each school provided feedback on how the mobile device policy has been received, with students sharing both positive experiences and areas of improvement.

On the topic of vaping, the students shared their experiences, with many noting a decline in vaping incidents.

The conversation around mental health was particularly poignant. Superintendent Betty Turpin emphasized the division's commitment to supporting student mental health through initiatives like wellness workers and wellness champions, as well as ongoing educational campaigns to raise awareness about the dangers of cyberbullying.

Superintendent Betty Turpin expressed her gratitude for the students' involvement in the meeting,
"The Student Engagement Team is an invaluable resource in helping us understand the real issues that affect our students. The importance of open communication and student involvement cannot be overstated as we work together to create the best learning environment possible."

This initiative is a testament to HFCRD’s dedication to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and responsive learning environment that meets the evolving needs of its students.
